Peterson makes it official
Collin Peterson just made it official. He's running for re-election again , this time for a 15th term. This might be his stiffest test. As I wrote here , Peterson doesn't represent the district anymore.
President Trump won MN-7 by 31 points. Despite that, Peterson voted against President Trump 85% of the time:
"Collin Peterson no longer represents Western Minnesota values," added Fischbach. "One of his first votes this Congress was to ban the wall, and he votes against President Trump 85 percent of the time. Unlike Peterson, I will work with President Trump to secure our borders, build the wall, fight against the Democrats' socialist agenda, and keep America great."
It'll be interesting to see how motivated Peterson will be. Staring him in the face is the possibility of working from the minority with Ilhan Omar and AOC. That can't be an appealing thought for Peterson. Also, it's apparent that his relationship with Pelosi has soured, too. The day after Peterson voted against Schiff's articles of impeachment, Pelosi slighted Peterson:

The USMCA is a big deal with farmers. The wide-angle shot at the start of this video is revealing in who isn't in the picture. Hint: Peterson isn't there. To a calculating woman like Pelosi, that isn't accidental. That's meant to send a signal that Peterson's in her doghouse.
Peterson won't return to Nancy's good graces anytime soon because Nancy's a vengeful bitch. The voters in MN-7 need to come together on whichever candidate they pick. This isn't an opportunity that happens every year.

Biden is mentally incompetent
H/T to Powerline's Scott Johnson for highlighting this :
Thread.
On multiple occasions, Joe Biden has forgot Barack Obama's name.

This must stop. Biden's family must intervene ASAP. Constantly forgetting people's names, especially your boss's, brings into question whether Biden is still competent. At this point, I'm not certain he is.
It's cruel to let a man that's clearly having difficulties make a fool of himself while the whole world is watching. The DNC doesn't care, though. Tom Perez hasn't stopped at anything to prevent Bernie from being the Democrats' nominee. Perez hasn't hidden the fact that he'll change the rules to prevent Tulsi Gabbard from participating in debates. But I digress.
It's painfully obvious that Biden's mind isn't right. These aren't like his previous gaffes, either, like when he told President Obama it was a big effing deal about Obamacare. That's just a foul-mouthed old fart acting like a wise-ass. This isn't like Biden talking about going to 7-11 stores without "a slight Indian accent":

Nothing in those situations suggests that he's lost command of his memories. The videos at the top of this post raise questions whether Biden's mind is right enough to be the leader of the free world. Frankly, I'm not certain, at this point, he's capable of running a neighborhood lemonade stand.

He still takes orders fine. As loved for that as Trump, by the billionaires giving orders.
And you got the Tulsi freeze, but what of the Bloomberg rule change earlier.
Don't blame me. I wanted Ellison to head DNC. Perez was the Biden backed, establishment candidate with Mayor Pete throwing his hat in that ring to build a national name. Some housecleaning is due. But cut Perez some slack. He's bad, but at least he's not DWS bad.
Do you think Biden gets a Ukraine excuse because he actually might not have realized what Hunter was doing or perceived how bad it looked? Such an excuse is consistent with the mind-slippage meme.
Today's DJIA selloff in perspective
Today's selloff is undoubtedly disturbing to the average family. While it's time to perhaps pay more attention to the portfolio, there's a strong case to be made that it's a great time to ignore it.
Let me start by saying that I'm not a market genius dispensing advice. That isn't who I am whatsoever. I'm just someone who's invested money before (mostly in mutual funds) and who has seen dips and crashes before. A couple of things are worth considering. During an interview with Bill Hemmer, David Asman talked about a person's 401(k) or their IRA. He spoke specifically about retirement accounts. What he said about retirement accounts is great advice:
Remember that you haven't lost money if you haven't sold the stock. What you'll see is an ugly statement. That isn't a big deal if you don't panic. It isn't a big deal if you let the stock market recover, which will happen.
It's important to note that the policies that President Trump and the Republican congress put in place have given us the strongest economy in a generation or more. The minute that this crisis is behind us is the minute the stock market will rebound. This administration's economic team is the best since the Clinton or Reagan team. Steve Mnuchin knows what he's doing. Larry Kudlow was the architect of Reaganomics. Now, he's returned to work his magic with this administration.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't re-evaluate your portfolio. It simply means that you should do that in a calm, rational setting, not while you're panicking. I have total confidence that President Trump, Secretary Mnuchin and Director Kudlow will put together a proposal tomorrow that will return the economy to the right path.
The biggest problem with the economy is the MSM. Two weeks ago, the MSM kept perpetrating the hoax that President Trump was caught asleep at the switch. That's despite the fact that Democrats criticized him for overreacting. Democrats accused President Trump of racism because he took unprecedented action. Wouldn't it be nice if the MSM and other Democrats made up their minds? You can't be caught asleep at the switch and overreact to a crisis.
President Trump's economic track record is brilliant. Unemployment is low. Minority unemployment is at a historic low. While 7,000,000 new jobs were create, most of those jobs went to women. Wages have risen, especially for the lowest-paid wage-earners. With a history of success like that, why shouldn't I trust this administration? They've lifted more people out of poverty in 3 years than the Obama administration lifted out of poverty in 8 years.
If anything should start a panic, the thought of a third Obama term should frighten the daylights out of us. Trumponomics is working. It's given us a resilient economy that's able to withstand lots of setbacks. Remember when Democrats insisted that the Trump tariffs on China would collapse our economy? How'd that prediction work out?
If Democrats don't nominate Bill Clinton, there won't be growth like we've had with President Trump. If Democrats nominate Joe Biden, who lately has difficulty stringing 3 straight coherent sentences together, the Trump Blue Collar Boom will collapse. You know the thing, right?
You're willing to put the economy in that idiot's hands? That's the ultimate panicked decision.

Cutting the fog of COVID-19
Cutting through the fog of misinformation about COVID-19 is imperative if we want to make rational decisions. In our quest to make rational decisions, this article is essential reading. Think of it as a call to rational thinking thanks to verifiable data from a trustworthy source. Let's get started.
The article starts by saying "With nearly every news website, broadcast, blog, social media outlet and publication wallpapered with coronavirus coverage, information - and, sadly, misinformation - about it abounds. That slew of coverage is seemingly spawning fear, which makes focusing on facts currently known about the outbreak all the more urgent, in our view. Now, we aren't epidemiologists or physicians. Neither of us studied medicine. We don't even play doctors on TV. But part of what we do is analyze media - our team covers dozens of outlets daily from around the world. That means we have collectively read hundreds of articles on the subject - and found some significant overlap across various experts about what is true and what isn't."
What we know
As of March 6, Johns Hopkins University's dashboard (which you can view here) cites 101,781 coronavirus diagnoses - 260 in America. However, there are a few caveats to this. One, that doesn't deduct the number of patients who have recovered or, tragically, died. Hopkins counts 55,866 patients as having recovered from the virus. 3,460 have died. Hence, these data show 42,455 persons currently known to have coronavirus globally - 238 in the US.
This article was written on 3/6/2020 so its information is dated. Still, it's worth reading through.
Limited testing worldwide means officials only identify those patients with the most severe symptoms. When Elisabeth (article co-author Elisabeth Dellinger) got swine flu in 2009, she was not part of the official tally because she stayed in bed and had fever dreams instead of checking in at a clinic. That the disease is likely more widespread than data suggest may seem frightening, but it brings us to another critical point to consider: The coronavirus death rate is likely overstated - potentially by a lot .
Some in the media, thankfully not all, have been irresponsible, by essentially hollering AIR RAID then whispering test. This misinformation has one main source: the anti-Trump political media.
I'm just saying
The misinformation coming from people with political motives shouldn't be trusted. That isn't to say it's all misinformation. It's just saying that the percentage of misinformation from these people is high. Let's start with this information:
Wow! You mean that acting with common sense changes outcomes? That's what Dr. Drew and Dr. Oz are telling us. Further, following the CDC's guidelines is imperative. Think of that as our starting point. Let's add that President Trump's task force is doing an outstanding job with this. That isn't what the politicized media is saying but that's the truth. Vice President Pence is the right man to lead the task force even though he isn't an MD. That's why he's got brilliant doctors on the task force. Dr. Anthony Fauci, Dr. Ben Carson, Dr. Robert Redfield and Dr. Debbie Birx are brilliant doctors. Trust them. They don't spew misinformation like Jim Acosta will.
This page should be the first page you read each day. It's filled with information that'll protect yourself and family. It's filled with information about who's most at risk, what you can do to mitigate the risks, what steps should be taken to reduce the odds of getting COVID-19. Follow these recommendations and you'll likely have nothing to worry about.
If you do get COVID-19 symptoms, report them to your physician ASAP. When they give you instructions, follow them perfectly.
It's time to stop panicking about COVID-19. Americans are a can-do people. We'll get through this just like we've gotten through everything else that life's thrown at us. If the liberal media want to panic, that's their right. I've got more important things to do.
UPDATE: Chuck Schumer is spreading hysteria for purely partisan purposes. What's needed is calm. Sen. Schumer is peddling panic. Apparently, he's more interested in partisanship than he's interested in statesmanship.
"I mean what was missing from the president's talk is how he is actually going to deal with the spread of the coronavirus. That's the bottom line," Schumer said. "Well, what's he going to do? So far we've seen statements belittling the problem, contradictory statements, statements that don't address the problem."
The CDC is putting out information that provide structure for people to follow. This is information that W e T he P eople need to act on.
If President Trump didn't start thinking about the economic impact of COVID-19, Sen. Schumer wouldn't hesitate in criticizing President Trump for not caring about the people. The simple truth is that Sen. Schumer is just a bitter partisan who hasn't put the people first. That's my definition of a total loser.

Good for Gavin Newsom
It isn't often that I praise Gavin Newsom. In fact, this might be the first time I've praised him. Still, he deserves praise for this:
Nice statement from Gavin Newsom... Sometimes it feels like these are too few, and far between, these days. Credit where credit is due... ?????? https://t.co/wxFWwFSPra
- Eric Trump (@EricTrump) March 10, 2020
Times like this call for each of us to listen to our better angels. Apparently, that's what Gov. Newsom is doing this time. Let's hope this starts a pattern with Democrats.

Restoring economic sanity
John Hinderaker's post highlights why the markets' volatility is likely overstated. In his post, John touches on something noteworthy when he writes "The virus has demonstrated that President Trump was right all along: outsourcing a huge percentage of our manufacturing capacity to China was dumb. It was especially dumb with regard to pharmaceuticals. But with regard to any non-trinket product, China's low wage rates are at best a dubious trade-off against low productivity, low quality-I could write a book about this-transportation costs, and unforeseeable disruptions associated with a primitive and autocratic society, like coronavirus. The trend toward bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. was already underway, but it will accelerate and become permanent as a result of the coronavirus."
First, I hope John writes that book. I'd be one of the first to purchase it. Next, and this is important, it's imperative that we bring back pharmaceutical manufacturing to the US. Putting our public health supply chains at risk is foolish when we have the capacity and capability to meet our needs. Relying on communist dictatorships for public health supplies leaves us potentially vulnerable.
When this virus is history, and it's a matter of when, not if, the US economy will jump back to its strong self. At that point, or perhaps sooner, it's important to ask some important long-term questions.
First, other than the partisans, does anyone seriously think that Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden's economic policies would produce better economic growth than what we've just experienced? Sanders thinks that breadlines are a net positive while Biden thinks that China is a friendly rival. What part of that sounds smart?
That's what Biden said 6 months ago. In the mental shape he's in right now, who knows what he thinks of China? Who knows if he thinks of China? We're going to turn over a robust economy to someone in that fragile mental state? Not if I can help it.
It's time for Republicans to stop panicking over the what ifs of the economy. Today, President Trump, Secretary Mnuchin and Larry Kudlow will make a presentation for a stimulus package. Instead of modelling it like President Obama's stimulus, which failed totally, President Trump's stimulus will strengthen the economy.
