Thank President Obama? Seriously?
At the top of the RealClearPolitics website is an ad asking people to thank President Obama "for fighting to defeat Trump in 2020." Here's what it looks like:
President Obama might've been the smoothest-talking president in history but his policies stunk. Did his Iran Treaty guarantee nuclear peace into perpetuity? Did the Paris Climate Accords finish climate change? Oh wait. The negotiations between the Obama administration and Iran, handled so deftly (not really) by John Kerry were a masterpiece for artists who use crayons. It was so fatally flawed that it couldn't be submitted as a treaty. It was so fatally flawed that dozens of Democrats voted against it.
The JCPOA and the Paris Climate Accord are now history. Prior to the Wuhan Virus, the Trump economy was hitting on all cylinders. The minute the virus is part of history, the economy will jump back to life. Unemployment is at 50-year lows. Consumer confidence is high. Companies are moving back from China. Other than that, the Trump economy is pretty mediocre.
President Trump's handling of the virus crisis gets mixed grades. The mixed messaging definitely isn't a positive. His travel bans deserve high grades, though. Wiping out the red tape at CDC that allowed the private sector to get involved in testing was brilliant. Why that wasn't done sooner is testimony to President Obama's obedience to big government.
It's time to do what works and fix what doesn't. Trusting government doesn't work. Another 4 years of President Trump should fix lots of things.

The Schiff Standard
Ever since Impeachment Committee Chairman Adam Schiff impeached President Trump without citing a crime, we've known that it was just a matter of time until some lame-brained leftist Democrat would redeploy the Schiff Standard. That day arrived . The sad part is that it didn't take long to arrive:
Professor Chris Edelson, assistant professor of government at American University, has penned an opinion column calling for President Trump to resign or be impeachment for his handling of the coronavirus crisis. It is just the latest in a long line of such impeachment theories that reflect a fundamental misconception of the function and standard for the removal of an American President.
Since Chairman Schiff has essentially instituted a whatever-a-majority-of-Congress-says-is-impeachable impeachment standard, it isn't surprising that people are making up new impeachment charges. As Democrats become more desperate, we should expect these types of frivolous charges to come more often against Republicans. Democrats have shown that they're a vindictive lot of sore losers. This treachery will become the new normal for Democrats.
If this becomes the Democrats' new normal, then I pray that voters punish Democrats for being sore losers. Shame on them for not accepting the outcome of legitimate elections. You lost in 2016. A 4-year hissy fit just proves that you're whiny little children. Whiny little children aren't fit to govern. That privilege is reserved for adults.
Schiff's problem isn't that he's a whiny little child. Schiff's problem, along with every other Democrat that voted to impeach or convict President Trump, is that he's a dishonest SOB. Trusting him is as stupid as trusting this professor. Then again, trusting any Democrat that voted to impeach or convict President Trump on the basis of hearsay testimony is stupid.
Schiff is an annoying SOB . He's proven that by this:
President Trump said he is seriously considering a pardon for former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn. "So now it is reported that, after destroying his life & the life of his wonderful family (and many others also), the FBI, working in conjunction with the Justice Department, has 'lost' the records of General Michael Flynn. How convenient. I am strongly considering a Full Pardon!" Trump tweeted on Sunday.
So now it is reported that, after destroying his life & the life of his wonderful family (and many others also), the FBI, working in conjunction with the Justice Department, has 'lost' the records of General Michael Flynn. How convenient. I am strongly considering a Full Pardon!
- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 15, 2020
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff quickly tweeted that Trump should keep his "focus on the current crisis" surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, adding that "the delay in testing and your failure to lead are already costing us dearly." "Your attacks on the independence of the justice system and rewarding of cronies who lied for you can wait," the California Democrat said. "Incompetence kills."
My message to Professor Edelson is the same as my message to Chairman Schiff. Shut up and go away. Your warped thinking is hurting civilized society. Please stop wasting my time with your stupidity.

Joe Biden, moderate-sounding extremist
To hear the MSM tell it, Joe Biden is a legitimate moderate cut from the cloth of Daniel Patrick Moynihan. That's who Sleepy Joe was but it isn't who he is. Moderate Joe supported the Hyde Amendment. Today's Joe opposes it. Moderate Joe supported energy independence. Today's Joe opposes fracking. In fact, Today's Joe wants fracking eliminated immediately:
@joebiden 'No new fracking' that is not gonna play well and western Pennsylvania or northeast Pennsylvania #CNNDebate pic.twitter.com/N9MM0lDIys
- SalenaZito (@SalenaZito) March 16, 2020
Moderate Joe was an illegal immigration dove. Today's Joe wants all illegal immigrants to stay unless they've committed violent crimes. In short, Today's Joe wants to turn the United States into a sanctuary nation . Don't bet on that playing well in the suburbs where crime is rising faster than property taxes. Then there's this:
Biden is no moderate:
-Believes in taxpayer funded abortion
-No deportations of illegal aliens without felony records
-Tax increases
-Etc.
- Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) March 16, 2020
If that's your definition of a moderate, then Bernie has a spot for you on his senior staff. Yikes.

The Democrats' fracking problem
During the Democrats' Sunday night presidential debate, Bernie Sanders twisted Joe Biden into killing Biden's presidential hopes . Sanders started by saying "I'm talking about stopping fracking as soon as we possibly can and telling the fossil fuel industry they're going to stop destroying the planet. Your heart is in the right place but it doesn't take on the fossil fuel industry."
Sleepy Joe couldn't let that stand so he replied "No new fracking and, BTW, on the Recovery Act, I was able to make sure we invested $90,000,000,000 in making sure we brought down the price of solar and wind that is lower the price of coal." That drew this response from the Twitterverse:
Exactly, opposing new fracking is NO different than saying you oppose ALL fracking https://t.co/8KL83FltpD
- SalenaZito (@SalenaZito) March 16, 2020
If anyone knows the politics of Appalachia better than Salena Zito, I wouldn't know who it'd be. I don't think that person exists. Reading through Ms. Zito's articles quickly informs people that she travels extensively through what I'd nickname Blue Collar America. She doesn't just know the area. It's apparent that it's part of who she is.
The article continues, saying "Biden's official climate plan posted on his website does not commit to a fracking ban and allows for the potential of using fossil fuels in the near term while pledging that the United States will reach net-zero emissions by 2050." I wonder how Sleepy Joe gets around that one.
The truth is that Joe is just a typical sleepy-headed dishonest politician. It's quite possible that he'll tell the next gathering of miners that he'd be their best friend in DC, not knowing that video of tonight's debate exists. In 2004, this two-faced act became nicknamed "Tom Daschle Disease." Sen. Daschle was the Democrats' leader in the Senate at the time. In 2005, Sen. Daschle was a year into involuntary retirement.
President Trump based his campaign on connecting with these communities. That's why he's nicknamed the "Blue Collar Billionaire."

Deploying federalism in a crisis
Something that I always admire for its wisdom is truly shining through in this coronavirus crisis. That something is federalism. Picture the end of last week. While markets were turbulent, Vice President Pence worked with Gov. Cuomo. Separately, President Trump and Gov. Gavin Newsom had a lengthy phone call. Both calls focused on working out things to make life better despite the virus.
Specifically, Gov. Newsom was put on the record :
The far-left governor, who has previously clashed with President Trump on such issues as sanctuary states, said in a press conference Monday that "every single thing he said, they followed through on," referring to the President's promised assistance in dealing with the quarantined Grand Princess cruise ship. Twenty-one passengers on the ship have been confirmed to have contracted the virus.
At the press conference, Newsom also said that President Trump promised him, in a private meeting, that California would "have my support, all of our support, logistically and otherwise.' Newsom added that the President said "everything that I could have hoped for."
The federal government has a hefty bag of tools that the states and municipalities don't have. The NIAID, the NIH and the CDC are major parts of that toolbox.
What the federal government doesn't have is the on-the-ground information required to deploy those tools efficiently. They require boots-on-the-ground to pinpoint the hotspots where those tools are best deployed. That's where governors, working in conjunction with municipalities, especially health agencies and community partners, can direct resources to the right locations.
When operations get really high grades, government mixes in the private sector where their expertise is most needed and their assets are most helpful. About 15 minutes into this video, President Trump started calling CEOs and corporate presidents to the microphone:
This is how the Founders envisioned the system working. That's what we should expect, too. The key is to keep government limited enough to do things well. We don't want government to do more than it's capable of doing. Asking corporate partners to assist at the right times helps, too.
Thus far, President Trump has made lots of great decisions. Shutting down travel with China and Europe have been the best decisions because they greatly slowed the spread of the virus. That can't be overemphasized. Some of his communications could've been better. That being said, making great decisions are infinitely more important than great communications.
Joe Biden's accusations of xenophobia were highly partisan. He looked small as a result of them. President Trump hasn't engaged in partisan sniping, which has helped him grade out highly during this crisis.
The other person who's grading out highly is Vice President Pence. He's been a pillar since being given the responsibility of running the task force. He's answered all questions while making great decision and while interacting with 50 governors and multiple agencies. Frankly, he's set a high standard for 2024.

The benchmark for the future
Dr. Debbie Birx just talked about her experience with the virus task force . While Sleepy Joe Biden, now the prohibitive favorite to be the Democrats' presidential nominee, has ignorantly shot his mouth off like a attention-seeking school child, adults like Dr. Birx have gotten important work done. In that work, they've helped protect hundreds of lives.
In his attempt to score partisan points, Biden said "We should not 'fall back on xenophobia. Labeling COVID-19 a foreign virus does not display accountability for the misjudgments that have taken thus far by the Trump administration." Presumably, Sleepy Joe isn't talking about shutting down travel with China or Europe. Unfortunately, the man who will be the Democrats' nominee has made himself look like an idiot on those fronts:
What was Biden saying? Days before the Trump administration finalized the travel restrictions, in an editorial Biden warned against "reactionary" travel bans, claiming it "would only have made things worse" with Ebola. Biden then accused the president of "demonstrated failures of judgment."
It's apparent that Sleepy Joe, the Democrats' soon-to-be-nominee, prefers the virus get to the United States unchecked so it can kill hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Buffoons think that way. Leaders like President Trump react when crises arise. Then medical experts like Dr. Fauci praise leaders like President Trump:;
'Clearly early on we made a travel ban with regards to China that was a very smart move right there because what that did was prevent a major influx from China,' Dr. Fauci added.
How has President Trump led? Let's ask Dr. Birx for her opinion:
"I've been a lab person. I've been a vaccine developer. I've been a doctor. I've been all those things," said Dr. Deborah Birx, another expert on the White House task force. "But I have never in my lifetime of government service worked with the CDC in a way that every time a state or local government calls and says, 'I have this barrier, I need a modification to the regulations.' That has happened almost daily."
That's what it means to work at 'Trump speed.' In other words, President Trump acts like a businessman, clearing obstacles and optimizing performance. That wouldn't happen if a lifelong politician were running the show. Thank God we have a businessman at the helm, not Sleepy Joe. I'm thankful for experts like Dr. Birx, who is doing an outstanding job. Finally, let's be thankful for Dr. Fauci:

Even Donald Trump has his limits, as a couple of recent press events showed. Even I was at first deflated a bit, but then I realized that the press would again crucify him no matter what he said.
Then I read accounts like this and many other accounts from the doctors and researchers. He's accepting what they are telling him, doing what needs to be done which is probably well beyond his instincts to otherwise protect the economy. As he often says, "We'll see what happens."
One thing I do know: whatever happens, it would have been worse under a Hillary Clinton administration.
Comment 2 by eric z at 19-Mar-20 09:18 PM
Gary, facts. Trump put a lifetime career politician in charge of the response. Had Trump not picked Pence for VP, his career might have been back to talk radio, but Trump showed his minimal regard for the worry by picking Pence.
Response 2.1 by Gary Gross at 20-Mar-20 01:48 AM
Pence doesn't think like a career politician. He's had a reform mindset from the start. When he took office, one of the first appointments he made was appointing Mitch Daniels as president of Purdue University. Since taking over as Purdue's top dog, Purdue has had 9 straight years of no tuition increases & 9 straight years of no increases for books.
If you want to dismiss that as being dismissive, give me more people who are dismissive in that way.
President Trump's virus leadership
President Trump's leadership is becoming totally apparent. This AP article highlights the first test of a vaccine for the coronavirus virus. According to the article, "U.S. researchers gave the first shots in a first test of an experimental coronavirus vaccine Monday, leading off a worldwide hunt for protection even as the pandemic surges. With careful jabs in the arms of four healthy volunteers, scientists at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Research Institute in Seattle began an anxiously awaited first-stage study of a potential COVID-19 vaccine developed in record time after the new virus exploded out of China and fanned out across the globe."
That doesn't mean we're in the clear. It simply means that the private sector is working its magic in record-setting fashion. Lives are at risk, which means it's a job for the private sector to get involved.
Joe Biden has been badmouthing President Trump since he became the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee. Frankly, he's a loudmouthed idiot with an over-sized ego. During his half-century in office, Biden has gotten tons of things wrong, especially on foreign policy. Biden's badmouthing of President Trump's handling of the virus crisis has played perfectly into China's propaganda campaign.
Rather than putting nation first, the Democrats' frontrunner put partisanship first. Unfortunately, that's Biden's history. If he hadn't been Obama's VP, he would've been an early drop-out. Pretending that he's a legitimate presidential candidate is like thinking that Ehire Adrianza is a legitimate full-time DH. The only thing Biden's gotten right about the pandemic is his blueprint. That's only because he copied President Trump's blueprint.
Slowing the spread of this virus was huge. Stopping flights with China prevented the spread of the virus while China lied about how it originated in Wuhan Province. Unfortunately, Biden isn't bright enough to push back against the Chinese.

Perfect pandemic perspective
For a quarter of a century, Max Lucado has been my writing inspiration. For those who've never heard of him, Max Lucado is the pastor of a Baptist Church in San Antonio, TX. That's his day job. Sort of. I might say that he's one of the best wordsmiths I've ever read but that isn't giving him enough credit. Pastor Lucado is the best wordsmith I've ever seen. Period.
This op-ed highlights one of Pastor Lucado's strengths. Specifically, it highlights Pastor Lucado's empathy:
Anxiety is an out of control thought pattern. It settles over the mind like a severe weather system, spewing thunderclouds and casting lightning bolts. Life feels like an airplane in a tailspin. It feeds on what-ifs and worst-case scenarios.
What if the coronavirus is unstoppable. What if a pandemic takes over? I'll be quarantined for weeks! The economy is sliding into a bear market. I'll lose my health. I'll lose my job. I'll lose it all. How will I survive on unemployment?
How many people can relate to those paragraphs? I'm betting that thousands can relate to those thoughts. It isn't just that Pastor Lucado knows that people are panicking and thinking like that. It's that he's got a solution, too:
Ask: "Can God solve this?" Is this challenge within His skill set? Is He overwhelmed by this setback? Are the angels pounding on the door of heaven trying to convince Him to come out of hiding? Is he resisting?
I can't handle this challenge. It is too great. I don't know what to do! I'm stumped, stuck, and stalled out.
No: I don't think so either. God is never baffled or belittled. Take the problem to Him.
While people in 'the real world' are telling us to take a deep breath, Lucado is telling us to take our problems to the all-powerful God who hung all the stars in the heavens in a single night. This isn't complicated. I'd rather trust the all-powerful God of the universe to take control of my life situation rather than simply taking a deep breath.
The important point to this isn't that Pastor Lucado can empathize with you throughout this crisis. The important thing to learn is that the God who created us empathizes with us. Trusting God throughout this pandemic is the perfect perspective.

Democrat skullduggery?
After reading Tim Morrison's op-ed , one wonders who's making these sloppy accusations. My first instinct is to blame it on Democrats. That's because they've been throwing out nasty rumors about President Trump since he took office.
According to Morrison's op-ed, "It has been alleged by multiple officials of the Obama administration, including in The Post, that the president and his then-national security adviser, John Bolton, 'dissolved the office' at the White House in charge of pandemic preparedness. Because I led the very directorate assigned that mission, the counterproliferation and biodefense office, for a year and then handed it off to another official who still holds the post, I know the charge is specious."
This fits the Democrats' deceitful theme that President Trump is flying by the seat of his pants with this crisis. While I can't give President Trump a 10 on his handling of the virus, there's certainly plenty to give him credit for. Let's start with his travel bans with China and Europe. The travel ban with China is especially important.
While Democrats were holding the trial for President Trump's far-fetched impeachment, President Trump put the China travel ban in place. Joe Biden accused President Trump of being xenophobic.
Now, Tim Morrison has first-hand proof that this accusation is false. The part of the NSC that Joe Biden and other Democrats said was closed was false from the start. Morrison knows because he ran that office before handing it off to another person, who is still running that office. I don't know of better proof than that. This is important:
As The Post reported in 2015, from the Clinton administration to the Obama administration's second term, the NSC's staff "had quadrupled in size, to nearly 400 people." That is why Trump began streamlining the NSC staff in 2017.
Though Morrison didn't say this, I suspect that the main reason for the downsizing the NSC is because that's where major parts of the Swamp lived. It makes sense, therefore, that the Swamp hit the Trump administration for eliminating the NSC, which is a part of the Swamp's operation. Videos like this are just part of the Democrats' smear campaign:
At a time when we need people coming together, Democrats are engaging in smear campaigns. How pathetic.
