John Kennedy vs. David Cicilline
Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy got it exactly right when he said that "this nonsense that illegal immigration doesn't depress wages is nonsense on a stick . That's just like economics 101. I don't mean any disrespect to the congressman but he must've been the Frisbee in the quad during Econ 101."
Sen. Kennedy then added that "Legal immigration is good for America. Illegal immigration is illegal [and] bad for America before adding that 'any fair-minded person' can find via a ten-minute internet search that a border wall is the best solution to the problem."
Sen. Kennedy is one of the best men in Washington, DC. I'd call him the modern day version of Sen. Alan Simpson. First, watch this video:
After watching this video, you'll understand why:

John Kennedy understands that a wall is required to protect America. As he said in his interview with Martha McCallum, it doesn't take long to figure out via Google that walls work. Today's White House Press Briefing explains things perfectly:

Watching the entire video will explain why a wall system is needed. Brandon Judd didn't mince words in explaining why walls work. Mr. Judd is currently the president of the National Border Patrol Council. He's explained that he's border patrol agent the past 21 years. I'm betting that qualifies him as a legitimate expert, not a DC expert.
Rep. Hakeem Jefferies think that he's an expert on border patrol:

What a blithering idiot. When was the last time you read an article that touted the heroic efforts of a drone that stopped a caravan from crossing the US-Mexican Border? I'm not saying that drones aren't important. I'm saying that drones are part of a system that should be deployed in stopping illegal immigration.

Pelosi: Dems will be transparent
One of the first things out of Nancy Pelosi's mouth is potentially stupid. In her op-ed , cowritten with Jim McGovern, Pelosi said "In November, the American people went to the polls and sent an unmistakable message to Washington. By a historic 10 million vote margin, they asked for a Congress that would be more transparent, ethical and focused on debating and advancing good ideas no matter where they come from. They asked for a Congress that would prioritize a positive, forward-looking agenda for the people."
It's worth remembering that Ms. Pelosi didn't initiate a review into Keith Ellison's alleged molestation of Karen Monahan . Further, Ms. Pelosi is the personification of the Swamp , having started serving in Washington, DC, in 1987.
Ms. Pelosi didn't check into Rep. Ellison's alleged misdeeds because that might've gotten into her way of becoming speaker again. Is that the personification of a person who's going to clean the swamp? I don't think so. Then there's this:
Third, we will restore Congress' constitutional role recognizing that the legislative branch is Article I, the first branch of government, coequal to and a check and balance on the executive and the judiciary. We will strengthen the representation of all Americans, and expand the voting rights of representatives elected by our more than 4.5 million fellow Americans from Washington, D.C., and the territories.
This is nothing more than the Democrats' justification for non-stop investigation into President Trump rather than passing legislation that helps people. The truth is that expectations aren't high that Pelosi's House will attempt to accomplish much substantively.

During her speech, Ms. Pelosi said that they "would debate good ideas no matter where they came from." She's already failed on that count because walls have protected Israelis from terrorists and South Koreans from invading armies. Frankly, Ms. Pelosi lied during her speech because that's the Democrats' nature.
The only question left is how long it'll take before Democrats go too far.

The problem with Democrats is that they believe every word that comes out of their mouths at the time they say it. What they said 5 minutes ago or will say 5 minutes from now doesn't matter. And if you don't believe them, well, you are the problem.

We'll debate good ideas no matter where they come from unless we don't agree with those ideas then we'll call you racists, bigots, misogynists, etc for no good reason other than we disagree with you.
Thomas Homan vs. Nancy Pelosi
Day after day, Democrats lie to this nation. Most often, it's Ms. Pelosi doing the lying. What's worst is that their lies are putting Americans in danger. This morning, Thomas Homan, the former acting director of ICE, explained how the Democrats' lies are putting Americans' lives at risk during an interview on America's Newsroom. Here's that interview:
The best line from the interview came from Director Homan when he said "I'll say, Nancy Pelosi, you need to love your country more than you hate this president." Amen to that, Mr. Homan. That's exactly right. I've written on LFR multiple times how Democrats say this or that about bipartisan bills that've passed but they never talk about GOP bills that fix the problem .
Tomorrow night, President Trump will address the nation from the White House. Then, this Thursday, he's flying to the southern border to talk with border agents and to get another update on what's needed.
This week is a make-or-break for Democrats. This week, President Trump will put an intelligent border security plan on the table. What's most important, though, is that it will be region-specific. That's because it came from border patrol agents. They know what assets are needed where. If Pelosi and Schumer keep yapping about 'border security' in vague terms and if Pelosi keeps talking about how fences are immoral, Democrats will be in trouble in 2020.

Stirewalt's stupendous stupidity
Chris Stirewalt's latest opinion column makes me wonder if he gets paid. It's that mindless.
Among his most mindless statements is where he states "Now, Trump is going to use his first-ever Oval Office address, the .44 Magnum in the presidential communications arsenal, to lay out this comprehensive plan. He will also, presumably, throw in some bar talk about invoking a national emergency to use extraordinary executive powers to get his way. The intent here is to get Pelosi on defense and cast her as unwilling to deal with a huge issue of major importance to most Americans. It's not a format that suits the president , who struggles with scripted speeches, but if he can pull it off, could dramatically alter the political moment."
Apparently, Mr. Stirewalt's memory is pretty worthless. I recall the turning point of the 2016 presidential campaign. It happened when he started speaking from the teleprompter. This was mostly attributed to Kellyanne Conway.
Let's remember that Stirewalt was the 'analyst' who said that Don Blankenship had the best night of the 3 candidates during the GOP debate. After the night, Blankenship finished a distant third in the primary:
It's time to admit that Mr. Stirewalt isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier.

President Trump vs. Chuck & Nancy
Entering President Trump's Tuesday night speech, the pundits were wondering if President Trump could "pull it off." Frankly, I thought that Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Schumer were facing the biggest hurdle, much like the rebuttal speaker faces after a State of the Union Address.
Let's face it -- the Oval Office projects great power to the viewing audience. A lonely hallway in the Capital doesn't. That's the natural setting. Things went downhill for Democrats from there. Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Schumer didn't know what President Trump's speech contained so they spoke from the Democrats' talking points. That was a major mistake. Here's part of the transcript from Pelosi's and Schumer's speeches. Notice the talking point tone to Speaker Pelosi's opening:
I appreciate the opportunity to speak directly to the American people tonight about how we can end this shutdown and meet the needs of the American people. Sadly, much of what we have heard from President Trump throughout this senseless shutdown has been full of misinformation and even malice. The president has chosen fear. We want to start with the facts.
The fact is: On the very first day of this Congress, House Democrats passed Senate Republican legislation to reopen government and fund smart, effective border security solutions. But the president is rejecting these bipartisan bills, which would reopen government over his obsession with forcing American taxpayers to waste billions of dollars on an expensive and ineffective wall - a wall he always promised Mexico would pay for.
I'm betting that most viewers noticed the repetitive lines in their speeches (eg- expensive and ineffective wall.). Here's the opening paragraph of Sen. Schumer's speech:
My fellow Americans, we address you tonight for one reason only: the president of the United States - having failed to get Mexico to pay for his ineffective, unnecessary border wall , and unable to convince the Congress or the American people to foot the bill - has shut down the government. American democracy doesn't work that way.
What worked more against Schumer's and Pelosi's speeches were their appearance:
President Trump's speech was powerful, disciplined and effective. Here's the most effective part of President Trump's speech:
This is the tragic reality of illegal immigration on our southern border. This is the cycle of human suffering that I am determined to end. My administration has presented congress with a detailed proposal to secure the border and stop the criminal gangs, drug smugglers, and human traffickers. It's a tremendous problem.
Our proposal was developed by law enforcement professionals and border agents at the Department of Homeland Security. These are the resources they have requested to properly perform their mission and keep America safe. In fact, safer than ever before.
While 'Chancy' spoke about government shutdowns, President Trump spoke about what law enforcement needs and the tragedies American families experienced. I'm betting people care more about human tragedies than they care about whether government was open.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, who you will be hearing from later tonight, has repeatedly supported a physical barrier in the past along with many other Democrats. They changed their mind only after I was elected president.
Finally, President Trump stuck the shiv in one final time:
This situation could be solved in a 45 minute meeting. I have invited congressional leadership to the white house tomorrow to get this done. Hopefully we can rise above partisan politics in order to support national security.
In other words, he's challenging Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Schumer to negotiate in good faith. Unfortunately, I'm not certain they'll do that.

Pelosi's twisted thinking
Katie Pavlich's article is a portrait in the Democrats' twisted thinking. Pavlich started her article by quoting Speaker Pelosi as saying "A wall, in my view, is an immorality. It's the least effective way to protect the border and the most costly. I can't think of any reason why anyone would think it's a good idea - unless this has something to do with something else."
Speaker Pelosi, I've never heard of a drone stopping a caravan. You haven't either. Pelosi and Schumer complain that President Trump hasn't put forward a plan for building the wall. What's frightening is that Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Schumer haven't laid out is a plan to secure the border. They've said that we should use drones, sensors and extra patrols but they haven't offered specifics.
Further, President Trump's plan comes complete with specifics. Those 234 miles of fencing/border wall/steel slats isn't a number pulled out of thin air. They're what the Border Patrol have recommended :
This is the tragic reality of illegal immigration on our southern border. This is the cycle of human suffering that I am determined to end. My administration has presented congress with a detailed proposal to secure the border and stop the criminal gangs, drug smugglers, and human traffickers. It's a tremendous problem.
Our proposal was developed by law enforcement professionals and border agents at the Department of Homeland Security. These are the resources they have requested to properly perform their mission and keep America safe. In fact, safer than ever before.
Here in Minnesota, Tina Smith proved that she's either hard-of-hearing or dishonest. Here's what she told KARE11 News:
"Tonight we heard the same things from the President that we've been hearing from him for the last two years, but he only offered symbols and no solutions. Meanwhile, Friday paychecks aren't going to go out. This is a waste and it's increasingly harmful to families and federal workers and also contract workers; and it needs to, and we could, end it tomorrow."
Smith didn't hear a plan because she wasn't listening. It's there. She just didn't listen.
Border patrol shouldn't have to patrol the entire 2,200 mile border. Building fences that create chokepoints help funnel coyotes and other traffickers to limited areas. Why wouldn't Smith, Schumer and Pelosi want that? Further, that sounds like a real plan. Shame on Democrats for not taking negotiations seriously. When Election 2020 rolls around, make sure you remember which party offered a detailed plan and which political party was unserious.

Smith is right that they could open the government up tomorrow but only if they would allocate the president the money he is asking for so the government can do what it is constitutionally obligated to do, protect the citizens of the US from outside forces. Smith and the rest of the progressives are hacks and only want money to buy votes.
