Matt Vespa's article highlights Christopher Rufo's tweet that announces that the "Seattle City Council moves to abolish the entire Seattle Police Department and replace it with a "civilian led Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention'" and that they "want to replace the police force with nonprofit programs and 'community-led activities.'"

This officially makes Seattle the nuttiest city in the USA. Seattle far outdistances Portland, NYC and Minneapolis. What's frightening is that Atlanta and Chicago are relegated to minor league status by comparison. If we were talking baseball's minor league system, Atlanta would be a high A team while Chicago would be a AA team.
Democrats have essentially demolished these once-great cities. Chicago was once known as the 'City of Broad Shoulders.' That reputation isn't deserved anymore. Seattle was known as the Emerald City whereas Portland was known as the Rose City. These days, they're festering dumps.

Finally, a vote for Joe Biden is a vote for this type of insanity. Since these riots started, he hasn't criticized the criminals inflicting pain on Portland and Seattle. Silence is violence, right?

Being in Seattle now over a few months, (for personal reasons), from the car on I-5 I counted a dozen construction cranes visible, meaning the city is more likely involved in building more into Seattle, rather than it being destroyed. It has a changing look, and is more crowded than in the '80's and 90's when I was a resident. It is prospering and people are amenable to wearing masks in public. If it is true, "Instead of having a CHOP zone, Seattle will essentially turn into a city of lawlessness. The population of Seattle will drop precipitously, starting within the next 6 months," then a large number of developers are spending real money chasing error, and it does not seem at all the mood here to believe they are. Being here, seeing it.
Let's fight Keith Ellison's unconstitutional double standard
Keith Ellison is Minnesota's chief law enforcement officer in name only. It's indisputable that he doesn't apply the laws equally. If there was any doubt that he'd turn a blind eye towards his political allies, this Powerline article puts that question to rest.
The story starts with "The organizers of a rodeo in the tiny northern Minnesota town of Effie are facing state punishment after disregarding warnings not to hold the event in violation of an executive order restricting the size of public gatherings. It's the first time the state has brought an enforcement action against an entertainment venue that has operated 'in open defiance of the law,' Attorney General Keith Ellison said in a news release."
Effie is roughly 40 miles from Grand Rapids. It's literally timber wolf country. The thought that Keith Ellison would file this type of action is beyond disgusting. The first thing to do is sign this petition to tell Mr. Ellison that his double standard doesn't comply with the Constitution, which requires equal application of the law. Specifically, the Fourteenth Amendment states "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
How many lawsuits has Mr. Ellison filed against Black Lives Matter-Minneapolis? Certainly, their riots in Minneapolis exceeded the limits of Gov. Walz's EO. They didn't wear masks and they didn't social distance, either. This part is infuriating:
Ellison said in a news release that his office has been working with businesses and events across Minnesota for months to help them understand the law and the governor's orders. In most cases, he says they have reached agreements that led to voluntary compliance, but his office is charged with enforcing the law when people don't comply.
'Business owners and event operators need to know that they are not above the law. If they risk the health and safety of our communities, my office will take strong action, as we are doing today," Ellison said in a news release.
"My office will take strong action" 'except if they're protesting against the police, rioting in the streets or share the DFL's priorities. Apparently, then you're invisible to his office. Tim Walz has been silent on this action. This picture explains why:
Finally, let's remember that 1 person who attended the event got diagnosed with COVID. Let's remember that a total of 125 cases have been reported for all of Itasca County since February. If Ellison won't apply the law equally, then he isn't fit for this job. He should be removed ASAP.

That petition website, with two links, said: "By signing, you accept Change.org's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and agree to receive occasional emails about campaigns on Change.org. You can unsubscribe at any time."
I read a little of it. Your readers should too before deciding to sign or not.
Beyond that, the petition is disingenuous. It's an entertainment event, not a protest.
DFL propaganda on COVID
It's difficult reading the DFL talking points from this LTE . The second paragraph, it says "Across the country during this pandemic the lack of strong leadership has added to the chaos, health and economic challenges and death. In states like New York, with a strong governor who relies on science, data and communicating a clear message, harm has been mitigated. To date, that has been also true in Minnesota. But our COVID-19 cases are growing again."
That's just stunning. NY doesn't have a strong governor. They've got a jackass who's gotten undeserved fantastic press. Ask Janice Dean what she thinks of Gov. Cuomo. Here's what she wrote about Gov. Cuomo:
A week before his dad died, someone called to let us know Mickey was being switched to another floor so they could let more patients in. From what I know now, I believe the new patients were ones recovering from COVID -- thanks to a statewide mandate from Governor Andrew Cuomo .
On March 28th, Sean got a call and was told that his dad wasn't well. He had a fever and his lungs were filling up. A few hours later he was dead. We assumed he had the coronavirus. We only got confirmation when we saw it on his death certificate.
When pressed about why he put COVID-recovering patients into nursing homes, Gov. Cuomo said that this was a CDC requirement. He lied about this. The CDC guidance said that COVID-recovering patients could convalesce in a nursing home if certain precautions were put in place. "Strong" Gov. Cuomo didn't put those precautions in place.
Here in Minnesota, strongman DFL Gov. Tim Walz insists on running the state by executive order. The DFL House protects Gov. Walz's dictatorial authorities without thinking whether there's an emergency. HINT: There isn't. According to this graphic, COVID-related hospitalizations and deaths have been cut in half from May to July:

We know the cycle. Without continued intervention in the weeks ahead, hospital beds and ICUs could be filling up and deaths will increase. We are also learning that after-effects for younger people in their 30s, 40s and 50s can be severe and the long-term impact of that on health and employment is unknown. So this continues to be an emergency.
Notice that the DFL said could, not shall, can, not will. The DFL needs a new dictionary. The definition of emergency is "a sudden, urgent, usually unexpected occurrence or occasion requiring immediate action. a state, especially of need for help or relief, created by some unexpected event:" An occurrence is something that's happened, not something that might happen.
This LTE was written to protect DFL-endorsed candidates who've likely gotten bombarded with questions while door-knocking. People don't like autocratic rule, especially now that the crisis has passed.
Minnesota is a leader in medicine and public health. We are identified nationally by such eminent scientists as Dr. Michael Osterholm, who has minced no words in saying how serious the coronavirus crisis is and that it's getting more serious by the day. Jan Malcolm, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Health, is widely recognized as an expert in both the big picture and granular detail of pandemic response.
Jan Malcolm isn't an expert. She's a blithering idiot. She should be fired. Dr. Osterholm might be an expert but he's wrong about this so-called crisis. The graphic from the Minnesota Department of Health verifies that.
The numbers verify that the worst is behind us. Facts are stubborn things.

Actually, he's right in that the lack of strong leadership has added to our problems here in Minnesota. (Don't confuse strong with strong-arm, strong man, ...) We like to think ourselves as models for other states regarding health care and education. And then we present the nation with babbling Jan and fast-talking Tim, not a coherent thought between them.

I question Cuomo's character and policies. How he got to be Governor was by majority vote, and somebody should research who the two-party system offered as an alternative. Who is funding promotion of Cuomo is another question due research. Do you or readers know much about New York politics? I lived in Buffalo, but that was years ago, and Western New York got little attention. Most recently one of its House Reps had to quit over insider trading, so go figure. New York City House districts are seeing long-term office holders being replaced with younger people as demographics change. How Cuomo fits in such transitioning is unclear.
Joe Biden & the Twenty-Fifth Amendment
Dan Bongino's tweet has started a firestorm of controversy over what Democrats will do with regard to Joe Biden. For over a month, I've said that Democrats will use Biden as a Trojan Horse candidate so they can pretend that they're moderates until the election is over. Within a month after the inauguration, Democrats will use the Twenty-Fifth Amendment to permanently remove Biden from office.
There hasn't been any doubt that Biden's cognitive abilities have precipitously declined since he was last in office. Joe Biden is said to be gaffe-prone. That's the MSM's spin but it's BS. These aren't gaffes. They're proof that Joe isn't all there. Period. Full stop.
Democrats will keep Joe front and center (in his basement or in an empty union hall) until after the election. If he wins, he'll become the first president to get run out of office using the Twenty-Fifth Amendment. This isn't the mind of a man who's all there:

The thing people need to emphasize is that Biden's running mate will quickly become president. Does anyone think that any of the mayors on his short list are capable of being president? Can you picture how quickly the economy would tank if Susan Rice or Kamala Harris became president? These aren't just nightmare scenarios. They're virtually guaranteed of happening if Biden wins.
Not a joke and not hyperbole - I'm hearing from people close to the situation that Biden's cognitive decline is rapidly worsening and is becoming increasingly difficult to mask. The Democrats are going to have to make a decision soon.

Karen Bass was Assembly Leader of the largest and most prosperous state in the Union. She became head of the Congressional Black Caucus while serving in the House. She has credibility with progressives, where Harris might have less. Rice is capable, but a guess is that she's as conservative as Biden.
Finally, you ignore those believing Trump is less than all there. He's shown, by the bible stunt and the Portland invasion to be too authoritarian and susceptible to bad advice from Barr and Wolf.
It's a bad choice, and you correctly say the Democratic Party's candidate is weak, while focusing only on one aspect. But Trump is derailed. As to dangerousness, voters will make a choice and polling may be correct about how that will sort out. I cannot speak in favor of either candidate. My conscience does not permit that, but I expect voters to again face the lesser evil two-party presentation, and they will decide.
Gov. Tim Walz vs. Mayor Jacob Frey, gloves come off edition
It's safe to say that Jacob Frey isn't planning on being Tim Walz's whipping boy when it comes to the George Floyd riots . The article written by Jennifer Bjorhus and Liz Navratil opens by saying "Jacob Frey has been cast as the mayor who lost control of his city, enduring criticism from the state's governor that the Minneapolis response to rioting in May over the police killing of George Floyd was an 'abject failure.' Now Frey is speaking out, saying Gov. Tim Walz failed to take his requests for help seriously until it was too late."
Monday, the gloves came off. "Frey said that Walz hesitated to send in the National Guard to quell the growing violence and then blamed him for allowing the city to burn." Then Frey said "Through an extremely difficult situation, I told the truth. I relayed information as best I could to state partners. And we did what was demanded for the sake of our city." The article then details what happened:
Texts and e-mails obtained from Minneapolis by the Star Tribune through public records requests show the city was trying to give Walz and the state Department of Public Safety what they said they needed to move forward. State officials, meanwhile, said the city did not provide the detailed information they needed to deploy the Guard until the next day. By then, dozens of buildings had been looted and torched.
An investigation is underway into who's at fault for not responding quickly. Based on this reporting, it's perhaps both men's fault, with Frey not giving Walz enough details to respond but Walz hesitating in using force against BLM political allies. Further, the gloves come off in this video:

From Teddy Tschann: "The Governor is a 24-year member of the state's National Guard and 'knows how much planning goes into a successful mission.'" From Frey's side: "The Governor's office did not immediately respond to an email from Fox News for comment."
With Major General Jon Jensen of the Minnesota National Guard next to him, Walz called the city's response an "abject failure." Walz had not warned him this public rebuke was coming, although they had a meeting shortly beforehand, he said.
"It was a sharp departure from every conversation we had had at that point," Frey said. He described the governor's assessment as "definitely a hit in the gut." "Not just for me, but for so many in our city that were doing everything they could. : Everyone was pouring themselves into stemming the violence," he said.
The article definitely paints a picture of Jacob Frey being easily intimidated and not terribly organized whereas Tim Walz is perfectly willing to throw anyone under the bus to protect his image. At this point, I wouldn't blame voters if they said 'a pox on both their houses.'

Give our boy Mayor some credit here. I'm presuming he correctly sees Walz making 26 knots into the iceberg. Maybe he's also putting all future riots in the Governor's hands, like after Election Day. Time to distance, go have his first beer.
Black Lives Matter follows in TakeAction Minnesota's footsteps
When Jason Lewis represented Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, one of the DFL's lynch mobs, TakeAction Minnesota, aka TAM, visited Lewis's private home, which I wrote about here . This is what I wrote at the time:
These aren't frustrated people trying to contact a politician about an important issue. They're people who didn't think twice about intimidating young women in their own homes. That isn't acceptable. That's what playground bullies do.
TAM went onto Jason Lewis's private property without hesitation. As I wrote years earlier, Democrats are big into visiting people's private homes , then threatening and intimidating their targets' children with their tactics.
Fast forward to today. The Democrats' tactics haven't changed. The politicians change depending on who needs to be intimidated. This time, the intimidators of choice are Black Lives Matter and the politician receiving intimidation is State Sen. Warren Limmer. BLM criminals (they were videotaped trespassing on Sen. Limmer's private property) did their best to intimidate Sen. Limmer:

From Sen. Limmer's perspective:
"We were watching it on my Ring doorbell and ... you get a different feeling when you see people slithering up to my front door, opening it and then pounding and yelling, demanding that I come out to greet the mob," Limmer said. "And it really isn't anything - that type of thing, no one in America should experience."
From BLM's perspective:
"You will come and talk to us, otherwise you will never run in (sic) office again," one man, who was shirtless and wearing what appeared to be a swim cap, yelled as he banged on Limmer's door. "You can't say that any more politely," he added as he walked away from the door.
A woman followed him with a more tactful approach: "We just want a little information here, that's all ... You could come out and talk with us, you know. That's one of the easiest ways to deal with people that are protesting you, is to come talk with us."
Establishment Democrats insist that they're mostly moderates. I've called that a lie since 2010. BLM isn't moderate. Antifa is further left than BLM. Justice Democrats are further left than Antifa and BLM put together. What's interesting is that the 4 people in this video are white:

While these protests weren't nasty like other protests have been, it's still intimidating to have thugs show up at your private home. This isn't protected by the First Amendment because BLM was trespassing. Here's hoping Sen. Limmer forwards this video to law enforcement and presses charges against these criminals. Once the people start trespassing, there shouldn't be any mercy shown to the criminals.

Minneapolis crime report: Third Precinct Warning & clarification
When news first broke that the Minneapolis Police Department was offering advice to people living near the destroyed Third Precinct Police Station, some people thought it might've been something from the Onion or the Babylon Bee. Unfortunately, it's altogether too real. According to the article, "The MPD has reported a 46 percent increase in carjackings and a 36 percent increase in robberies compared to this same time last year, according to WCCO. Police in the city's Third Precinct alone have received more than 100 reports of robberies and 20 reports of carjackings in just the last month."
The article continues, saying "Officials are now telling residents to be ready and willing to comply with the demands of criminals in an email sent to Third Precinct residents. 'Be prepared to give up your cell phone and purse/wallet,' the police said in their email, a copy of which was obtained by Alpha News. The email said citizens should listen to criminals and 'do as they say.'" Here's the official MPD statement:
Now, the MPD is backpedaling on that statement:
MPD's directive to obey criminals "appears to not have gone through the proper channels before release," according to a statement from department spokesman John Elder. "There is not a prescribed way to respond to being a victim of a crime. People have different capabilities and each incident is different," he added.
This clarification notice was sent out to clarify what Minneapolis crime victims should do:
Notice that they aren't talking about preventing crimes. They're essentially telling people that they should look for things that identify the people who assaulted them. They're essentially saying that people aren't safe in Minneapolis unless they travel in groups. If that's meant to make people feel safe, it isn't working.

Newt Gingrich: Democrats surrender Minneapolis to criminals
Newt Gingrich's Foxnews.com op-ed opens with a sobering statistic. It starts by saying "Americans oppose defunding police by 72% to 26%, according to Pew Research Center. Let that fact sink in as you watch what Democratic leaders and the propaganda media are promoting across the country."
The statistic isn't surprising. A majority of people from all races, religions, ethnicities and incomes prefer safety over chaos. What's surprising is that a major political party thinks that they can win a presidential election while supporting the defunding or outright dismantling of police departments. Rush Limbaugh used to say that (I hope I get this right) "liberalism isn't a political philosophy. It's a mental disorder." But I digress. Let's return to Speaker Gingrich's op-ed.
Unlike some Democratic politicians, the American people know that getting rid of police creates a vacuum, which predators will fill. This is exactly what is happening with the growing disaster in Minneapolis. In fact, the trouble in Minneapolis is a case study on the results of the radical Democratic policy of protecting criminals, hating police and endangering law-abiding citizens, which I write about in my new book Trump and the American Future.
The leftwing Democrats who dominate the Minneapolis government have been crippling and starving the police department. Unfortunately for most Minneapolis citizens, criminals are beginning to understand what a happy hunting ground the Democrats are creating for them.
I've heard stories that up to 20% of buildings along Lake Street, the busiest street in the Twin Cities, are up for sale. East Lake Street runs from 35W to St. Paul, which makes it one of the longer streets in Minneapolis. When that many stores are up for sale, that's a red flag that something is seriously wrong. This is frightening:
Gunfire incidents were up 224% in June and 166% in July, according to the Star-Tribune. Armed robberies and car-jackings are also on the rise, with 100 robberies and 20 car-jackings reported in the city's South Side in July alone. As the police shrink the criminals grow.

Yes, Ben Shapiro is a smart guy. It didn't take a Ben Shapiro-sized intellect to figure out that Minneapolis's plan to dismantle their police department would end in calamity. Let's return to the Pew Research findings, then compare them with this polling:

It isn't a stretch to think that Minneapolis is going to hell in a handbasket when you consider how their city is run by idiots compared with the people successfully running smaller cities in the Midwest and nationwide. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Check this out:
Libor Janey of the Star-Tribune reported on Aug. 1 that 'Minneapolis police are down at least 100 officers since the killing of George Floyd, more than 10% of the force, straining department resources amid a wave of violence and adding extra urgency to the political debate over its future.' Janey then wrote that the force could be down by one-third by the end of the year.
Already, only six officers are patrolling the 14.5-square-mile third precinct. That means there is less than one policeman for every two miles. This may help explain the third precinct's letter to innocent citizens urging them to obey the criminals, and give up their wallets, keys and cell phones.
This isn't a disaster waiting to happen. It's a disaster that's happening. The saddest thing is that these Democrats are too proud to admit that they're wrong.

Does this elevation of his public presence signify Gingrich is looking to 2024? You, Gary, Gretchen, and other readers would have a better sense than I would of a likelihood either way. If he is, what base of donor and rank and file support is he strongest with? Or is the question premature?

I hope Mr. Newt continues this role. I remember how poorly he did as House Speaker in 1995, easy guy finessed by President Clinton. He's read all the books, he knows what to do but he just isn't a leader. And very few of us are.
Newt Gingrich: Democrats surrendering Minneapolis, Part II
Newt Gingrich's op-ed on Minneapolis Democrats surrendering their city to criminals had so much damning information on Democrats that I decided to write this Part II post. Let's dig into what's left of Mr. Newt's op-ed.
The hypocrisy of the Democrats is made clear when you learn that Minneapolis taxpayers pay for private protection for three of their city council members. As a citizen of Minneapolis, you are told to surrender before being hurt by criminals. As part of the political aristocracy, you get taxpayer-funded private security, so you don't have to worry. A nice benefit if you can get it.
The surrender-to-the-criminals approach is having a terrible effect on both the quality of life and the economy in Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Downtown Council has already warned the city government that efforts to defund the police are driving businesses away from Minneapolis. According to the Freedom Foundation of Minnesota, the Downtown Council cautioned that "27 downtown companies are either considering or are actively seeking space in the suburbs to leave downtown." Other businesses looking to move have "crossed Minneapolis off [their] search list," the foundation reported.
What's apparent is that the activists on the Minneapolis City Council think that they can paper over their foolish decisions. That apparently works when campaigning but it's equally apparent that it doesn't work with serious-minded businesses. The activists on the City Council don't suffer repercussions for their decisions. Businesses that make bad decisions might lose their life savings at age 40-50. That's a life-changer for most people.
In Seattle, where the local politicians surrendered more than a dozen city blocks to vandals and violent protestors, Police Chief Carmen Best, who is African American, had hundreds demonstrators outside her house. As The Washington Times reported, roughly 200 protestors drove to and crowded Best's neighborhood (although she was not home). Some of Best's neighbors had to block the streets with their own vehicles to keep the demonstrators from trespassing and damaging property.
One resident told a local Fox affiliate, "It was not peaceful: They were here to intimidate. Scare people. Scare children. There were children out there and they were asking them what schools they went to. They were yelling the most horrible things you've ever heard in your entire life."
Seattle used to have the nickname of the Emerald City. It was a truly beautiful city. Now it's fast becoming a dump. They're cutting the SPD budget by 50% next year. Businesses aren't sticking around thanks to the rising crime rate and rising minimum wage to $15.00 per hour to serve a cup of Starbucks to junkies.

Minneapolis belongs in the Democrats' Hall of Shame. Jacob Frey didn't protect his city. The Minneapolis City Council isn't interested in protecting their people but is interested in doing unthinkable damage to the city. The Council spoke of re-imagining law enforcement. That was code for gutting law enforcement. These Democrats are a disgrace. Somewhere, Hubert Humphrey is rolling over in his grave.
