Twins Pummel ChiSox, Night II
This is getting fun. The Twins are playing David to the ChiSox' Goliath. Tonight, it was Luis Castillo's turn to play David, with strong support from Justin Morneau and a stellar bullpen performance from rookie Francisco Liriano.
Unlike Friday night's game, the ChiSox got out to a 4-0 lead after 4 1/2 innings. Like Friday night's game, the Twins bats provided all the firepower they needed, pounding out 14 hits tonight against a frustrated Javier Vazquez & the ChiSox bullpen.
After spotting the reigning World Champs that 4-0 lead, the Twins came storming back in their half of the 5th, scoring 5 runs, capped by Morneau's RBI single that plated Joe Mauer & Torii Hunter.
While Morneau had the game-winning RBI's, Mr. Castillo had a big hand in igniting rallies all night it seemed. Castillo, who's the best second baseman in baseball right now, went 3-5, scoring 3 times with 2 RBI's on his 2nd HR as a Twin, a drive that just cleared the rightfield baggie in the 6th.
The Twins' offense is gelling, too. They pounded Chicago's pitchers Friday night for 15 hits. Tonight, they got 14 more. They've scored 18 in 2 nights against the suddenly shaky World Champs going into Sunday night's ESPN game of the week. They've scored 37 runs in their current 4 game winning streak.
Castillo's been the key thorn in Chicago's side, collecting 6 hits in his 10 at-bats, with 5 RBI's, 6 runs scored, a stolen base & a homer in tonight's game. That's an impressive performance in any situation but it's that much more impressive coming against the defending World Series Champions.
I strongly urge my readers to follow this link & vote Luis Castillo in as the AL starter at second base. Also worthy of strong consideration in the All Star balloting is Joe Mauer.

This is the first site hit in google news for Justin Morneau and steriods. Anyway, his production slipped a lot last year, so I was looking around for steriod rumors on the kid... maybe I'll start one here :O)
Keep up the baseball posting. It looks good.
