President Breaks Fundraising Mark
The
AP's Jennifer Loven is reporting that President Bush gave the GOP a major boost "at the RNC's annual spring gala."
It isn't that the GOP doesn't run as conservatives. It's that they don't always govern as conservatives. Still, I'd rather have an 'impure majority' than a 'purist minority'.
This fundraiser is a major shot in the arm for the GOP, probably enough to keep Republicans in control of both houses of Congress.

The president repeatedly voiced optimism and signaled a no-holds-barred effort against Democrats, whom he argued would "run up your taxes," increase the deficit, enact shortsighted isolationist policies and fail to protect family values and national security. "We've got something to run on. We've got something other than rhetoric to run on," the president told wealthy donors gathered for the Republican National Committee's annual spring gala. "We're going to run on principles and a strong record, and I'm confident with your help we'll continue to maintain our majorities in the United States Senate and the United States House."I'd be lying if I said I was satisfied with Congress's performance. But I'd be a bigger liar if I said I'd rather have a Democratic majority to shake up the GOP, even if it's for just one election cycle.
