It was Zogby's first poll on the election race and was in line with others, although Calderon's lead has ranged from 1 to 10 percentage points. The conservative former energy minister trailed Lopez Obrador for months but has surged in recent polls after launching an effective campaign of negative television ads.Rumor has it that former Clinton political advisor Dick Morris is now running the Calderon campaign. I don't have proof of that but Calderon's surge to the lead was fueled with "negative TV ads", which is certainly Morris' style. I also remember reading awhile back, though I don't know where, that Morris didn't want Obrador winning because he's a socialist who is friends with Hugo Chavez. Having another Chavez-like leader in Latin America couldn't be a good thing.
