CELEBRATION!!!

Join my blogging partner (and very good friend) Leo Pusateri & I as we celebrate the 4th of July in St. Cloud at the Bridgefest event. It promises to be quite an event, with Leo's barbershop quartet performing that afternoon. After he's done performing, we're getting together to celebrate my turning the BIG 5-0. Yep, I'll officially become AARP-eligible on the 4th of July. I can't wait to join. (Just kidding.) Here's more information about the Bridgefest Celebration provided in the St. Cloud Times:
BridgeFest in St. Cloud

The new Fourth of July celebration starts at 8 a.m. Tuesday with a Sidewalk Chalk Art Challenge on Veterans Bridge. Artists or teams of artists can sign up to fill a 5-by-5-foot area with a chalk design. The grand prize is $150, and there will be other prizes, too. Chalk will be provided, but artists can bring their own.

To sign up for the Chalk Art Challenge, call Jennifer Penzkover at 650-3052 or e-mail arts@ci.stcloud.mn.us.The bridge festivities will pick up about 2 p.m., with a mosaic mural and other children's activities between the St. Cloud Civic Center and Veterans Bridge.

Pontoon rides on the river will be available from 2-8 p.m. A mini-food and art fair, including a beer garden, will be set up from 2-10 p.m.

Performances by the Midwest Mounted Reenactors, the St. Cloud Singing Saints and country band Diamondback will be scattered throughout the afternoon.

The main event, a fireworks show designed to celebrate St. Cloud's 150 anniversary, will begin about 10 p.m. Watch the show from Wilson Park, Hester Park or Veterans Bridge.
I'm really looking forward to listening to Leo & Co. perform. Barbershop quartets are the best-sounding singers around. It's also the most patriotic-sounding music around. Don't miss this opportunity if you enjoy high quality music.

I'm looking forward to meeting any St. Cloud Area bloggers and/or blog readers at Bridgefest, too, as well as having a birthday cocktail with Leo (& any bloggers that make it there) after Leo's performance.

For those people who aren't familiar with St. Cloud, the Veterans Bridge is the bridge that links East St. Germain St. with West St. Germain St. It's the bridge that's at the north end of the St. Cloud Civic Center.

I hope you join in St. Cloud's 4th of July festivities. I'll guarantee you'll have a great time.

Hope you had a great birthday. View of the fireworks from the bridge was excellent. Only complaint we had was with the long wait for the boat rides!! We gave up and had a coffee up top at the Mississippi bean instead. Local brew at the festival site was good too. Will have to drive over to Cold Water and tour the brewery.

All in all, a good show.
