Bachmann Pumps Up the Troops
Michele Bachmann showed why she was the best choice for the GOP endorsement to replace Mark Kennedy last night. Michele was in Waite Park for the St. Cloud area Victory Office Grand Opening Monday night.
One of the first things that Michele talked about were the array of issues that she'll campaign on. And what a set of winning issues Michele will campaign on!!! Everyone knows that she'll campaign on maintaining the traditional makeup of families. No surprise there. Another important issue that Michele will campaign about is national security, with a heavy emphasis on freedom in the Middle East and standing with Israel, our democratic ally in the Middle East.
The next thing on the agenda was introducing the numerous local candidates: Jeff Johnson, who's running against Tarryl Clark for Minnesota state Senate, Steve Gottwalt, who just got endorsed to replace Jim Knoblach in the Minnesota House, Dan Severson, the incumbent in House District 14A, and Nate Stang, who's running for House District 14B. Michele said that she's made a commitment to being the hardest working candidate and that "Nate's a close second." That's quite a compliment coming for Michele, who's quickly establishing the reputation of being a tireless campaigner.
One thing that's obvious is that Michele is about building a stronger GOP presence in the St. Cloud area and throughout the Sixth District. She spoke glowingly about the College Republicans, as did Jeff Johnson. It turns out that Jeff is involved with the CR's at SCSU. Michele's goal is to "take back some territory" that's slipped into Democratic hands.
The other thing that was a high priority with Michele is making sure our 72-Hour Plan operates at peak efficiency. Based on conversations I had with the people there, I think we're in good shape that way, though it will take a sustained effort to maximize our vote totals for all our candidates.
The CR's that I talked with last night are the gung ho-, can do-types that are pumped to be working for Jeff and Michele. Another encouraging sign to me was that there was a wide variety of people represented there, from middle aged people to the veterans who've manned the booth at the fair and the phone banks to some young people who will one day become CR's. We had people there who work in printshops, small business people and other professionals, be they computer programmers or church pastors.
On a personal note, I was surprised to find out I was standing alongside King Banaian's wife, the famous Mrs. Scholar herself. Thankfully, Michele pointed her out and I was able to talk with her when the candidates mingled throughout the room.
The other thing that I noticed was that alot of people were talking about the Minnesota Poll results showing Amy Klobuchar leading in all categories except with 18-25 year olds, which tipped in Mark's favor to the tune of 63 percent to 16 percent. In a conversation with someone from the MNGOP, Luke Hellier & Michele, I mentioned Ms. Klobuchar leading Mark Kennedy amongst men. I told them what I've told you: "Give me a break!!!" That statistic isn't attached to any sort of reality. That sentiment was unanimous.

Did she give the "tip of the spear" line?
Would it break your heart if she didn't?
