I've been writing about the NSA intercept program since the morning it broke in the NY Times. Since that morning, I've been upset at how the NY Times, the AP and the Washington Post have characterized it as warrantless wiretapping or domestic wiretapping. I've finally found an article that doesn't
intentionally mischaracterize it. Here's how the AP's Mark Sherman words it:

The Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee pointedly criticized Attorney General Alberto Gonzales Thursday for "stonewalling" by refusing to answer questions about the Bush administration's warrantless eavesdropping program.I wish I knew Mr. Sherman's email address because I'd send him an email to congratulate him on his correctly characterizing the program. That man deserves a medal.

Gonzales also would not discount that the president could order the NSA to listen in on purely domestic calls without first obtaining a warrant from a secret court established nearly 30 years ago to consider such issues.I don't have quotes from them but I can't imagine this not drawing the ire of House Democrats, especially John Conyers. Conyers is the moonbat who's co-sponsoring impeachment with 35 of his most liberal comrades.
He said the administration, assuming the conversation related to al-Qaida, would have to determine if the surveillance were crucial to the nation's fight against terrorism, as authorized by Congress following the Sept. 11 attacks. "I'm not going to rule it out," Gonzales said.
