McCain in Minnesota
Senator John McCain spent Wednesday in Minnesota
raising funds for Governor Pawlenty and for Rep. Gil Gutknecht. He's in Iowa today.
Seriously, I think a McCain-Pawlenty ticket would doom Hillary to being the latest Democrat to go down in flames. At this point, polls show McCain leading Hillary by double digits in most of the New England states. That would be disastrous for her. She'd have to paint alot of solidly red states blue to win. I don't think she's got much of a shot at that.
In fact, I'd say the only red states she could turn blue are Ohio and Colorado. Even there, I don't put her chances that high.

U.S. Sen. John McCain and Gov. Tim Pawlenty put on an unusually warm public display of affection at a news conference Wednesday. And to the inevitable speculation that they might make an attractive Republican presidential ticket in 2008, they protested, but not too strenuously. Pawlenty effusively praised McCain, a well-known former Vietnam POW and war hero who headlined two fundraisers for Pawlenty's reelection. "He inspires us with his life story, he engages us with his bold ideas, he encourages with his ideas about how we can make government work better, he has the confidence to chart a better course for our children," Pawlenty said.I'm gonna have to rethink my opinion about Pawlenty after that last part where he lists a Packer QB as one of his heroes. This is Vikings Country. On a quiet night, you can hear Packers whining about the refs. But I digress.
When asked whether he was ready to endorse the U.S. senator from Arizona for president, Pawlenty said it would be "premature" because McCain has not announced a candidacy. But Pawlenty then offered "the personal sentiment" that McCain ranked among his top heroes such as former President Ronald Reagan and Hall of Fame NFL quarterback Bart Starr.
