Rep. Omar's complicated life
Anyone that thinks that Rep. Ilhan Omar's life was complicated before this week should read this article . After reading that article, they'll realize that Rep. Omar's life is just starting to get super-complicated.
According to the article, "Rep. Ilhan Omar swore under oath in a 2017 divorce filing that she hadn't seen her husband Ahmed N. Elmi in six years and didn't know anyone who might be able to locate him, yet he appears to have designed a website for Omar's sister this year, according to data hidden in the source code of that website." Anyone who thinks there's a simple explanation for this that doesn't involve extreme political complications and perhaps some criminal complications is kidding themselves.
That's just the start of Rep. Omar's difficulties, though. The article continues with this:
In arguing that she should be granted a divorce without her husband's consent because he could not be located, she claimed that she did not know the name of a single member of her husband's immediate family. She also claimed that her attempts to find him included unsuccessfully searching on social media but he has been on Twitter since 2012 and Facebook since 2007 and is also on LinkedIn and other platforms.
The odds of Rep. Omar not finding her hubby under his given name aren't high. It's impossible to think that she didn't know her hubby's screenname on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. That's a 5-minute search on the slowed day in the history of the internet. Then there's this:
Lying on a sworn form is perjury and each charge carries five years in prison, according to Minnesota law. Questions have been raised about the accuracy of approximately six statements on the sworn form.
If Speaker Pelosi's Democrats protect Rep. Omar, they'll suffer a gigantic defeat in November, 2020. Committing multiple felonies isn't something the Ethics Committee should tolerate. That should draw an expulsion from the full House.
This should drive the proverbial final nail home:
I'm not a legal eagle but that looks a lot like a smoking gun. The other question left in all this is what lengths the Star Tribune will go to protect Rep. Omar. At this point, I'd hope they wouldn't walk across the newsroom to help her.

Pelosi's immigration despotism
After reading Jazz Shaw's post about Nancy Pelosi's 'plan' on immigration, I find myself 8 shades of pissed off with the obstructionist Speaker. Our Constitution can't work if both sides don't work together. Ms. Pelosi (big surprise) isn't interested in working together with anyone.
What she's effectively done is started her own private government shutdown. She knows that the money budgeted for DHS is virtually dried up. Further, she knows that the money needed for supplies for detention centers is essentially gone. Now, CBP agents are bringing in supplies from home to take care of the children. The House bill is utterly neglectful of what this country needs:
There's 934.5 million for processing facilities, food, water, sanitary items, blankets, etc. $866 million would go to "reduce reliance on influx shelters to house children." Another $200 million is allocated to develop an "integrated, multi-agency processing center pilot program for families."
That's only part of it. It gets much worse. Check this BS out:
There's another serious poison pill in the package as well. One provision would, " require the federal government to prospectively notify illegal immigrants that if they bring an unaccompanied child into the country and sponsor them, their illegal status would in no way be used against them , a source said, and that the child will be delivered to them without any reservation."
Are you kidding me? So not only are we not fixing the loophole that's allowing illegal aliens to grab a kid and use them as a passport to get into the country, but we're going to advertise the loophole to all the migrants and codify it in law?
The next time a Democrat insists that they're serious about border security, throw that information into their face. This is what people do if they hate America. Right now, there's tons of proof that Democrats don't like America much.
It's time to throw Pelosi out as Speaker. She's repeatedly proven that she isn't interested in fixing problems. Further, she's repeatedly proven that she wants to blow up the America that our Founding Fathers envisioned. Check this out from Pelosi's statement on the House immigration bill:
The legislation protects families. It does not fund the Administration's failed mass detention policy, but, instead, funds effective, humane alternatives to detention with a proven track record of success. It places strict limits on influx shelters, protects sponsors from DHS immigration enforcement based on information collected by HHS during the vetting process and creates strong oversight by Congress including to protect unaccompanied children.
In other words, the Democrats' immigration bill will prevent DHS and HHS from collecting information on illegal immigrants during the vetting and processing processes.
The minute this bill is passed and sent to the Senate, the Senate should gut the poison pill parts of the bill and write the right bill. If Senate Democrats aren't willing to stand up to Ms. Pelosi, they should be highlighted for defeat the next time they're up for re-election.
Pelosi is a tyrant. She thinks that she's the queen when it comes to controversial legislation. If Democrats won't shut her down, then they're utterly worthless. All of the spinmeisters' talk about how many moderates got elected is foolish. Moderates who won't stand up to a tyrant like Pelosi are moderates in name only. This is what a tyrant looks like:
She's the personification of a tyrant. Here's the definition of a tyrant :
- a sovereign or other ruler who uses power oppressively or unjustly.
- any person in a position of authority who exercises power oppressively or despotically .
She needs to be thrown out. For that matter, House Democrats need to be thrown out of office. Since regaining control of the House, Democrats haven't done anything to make Americans' lives better. They've protected criminal aliens with ferocity. They've insisted on not protecting our borders. Democrats that tell you that they're pro-border security are liars. Period.

Democrats protect criminals
This shocking article should frighten and outrage every thoughtful American. It's a story of how little Democrats care about securing our border, protecting our people and how much they hate President Trump.
For instance, the article reports "Rosalio Ramos-Ramos was arrested last January for murder and dismembering his victim. It happened just months after Ramos was released from a Washington jail despite ICE's request for an immigration detainer and notification of his pending release, neither of which were honored."
This victim's blood is on the Democrats' hands. Period. Had ICE's detainer been honored, this victim would still be alive. The Democrats' attitude is offensive. This morning, I wrote this post that quoted Speaker Pelosi. Here's what she said:
This week, the House will advance strong border legislation, which protects vulnerable children and keeps America safe as it honors our values. Congress continues to insist that families belong together and for immigrant communities to know their rights.
What a pile of BS. If Democrats want us to believe that their "values" include letting alleged murderers run free while providing sanctuary to these alleged monsters, Democrats should just say so. Those aren't America's values. In fact, I'd doubt that a majority of Democrats would agree that those are their values.
In that videotape, Pelosi decries the families that are getting separated at the border. Notice that heartless bitch, aka Pelosi, didn't mention this criminal and this victim:
ICE also cites the case of Mexican national Martin Gallo-Gallardo, who was in a Clackamas County Oregon jail. The statement said jail officials ignored ICE's request for an immigration detainer and notification of release. Gallardo was released and within months was re-arrested, this time for allegedly murdering his wife.
Democrats wear their love for sanctuary cities and sanctuary states as a badge of honor. They whine about separating law-breakers but don't give a damn about families that are forever separated from their families because alleged murderers have killed their families. Democrats are a bunch of heartless bastards because they don't care when sanctuary cities and states protect violent criminals but don't protect law-abiding citizens.
Ms. Pelosi and Democrats, is it an American value to let violent criminals run free? Ms. Pelosi and Democrats, is it an American value to not protect law-abiding citizens? Jay Inslee, one of the cast of thousands of Democrats running for president this year, summed up the majority of DC Democrats' opinion thusly:
We will not be complicit in the Trump administration's depraved efforts to break up hard-working immigrant and refugee families.
Apparently, Gov. Inslee isn't complicit in protecting the citizens of his state. Gov. Inslee, a Democrat, should be ashamed of himself. People in the Rust Belt and Great Lakes states won't vote for politicians who won't protect their citizens. Fortunately, the people in America's Heartland have their priorities in order.
Finally, 'moderate' Democrats that don't stand up to Pelosi, AOC and Ilhan Omar are worthless. If the moderates are squishes without character, then they don't serve a useful purpose.

Mueller agrees to testify
Special Counsel Robert Mueller has agreed to testify before the House Judiciary Committee, then the House Intel Committee. In both instances, the hearings will be public hearings. Democrats are touting this as a big win for the American people and Democrats. I'll agree that it's a win for the American people but I'm betting it'll be a loss for Democrats.
Fox News had panel after panel, interview after interview on the potential ramifications of Mueller testifying. Capitol Hill Producer Chad Pergram is exactly right when he said "We've had some explosive hearings on Capitol Hill before. You think of James Comey testifying, Jeff Sessions in the Senate a couple of years ago. You think about Michael Cohen in February. This will dwarf that. The pure magnitude of this will be off the Richter scale." Democrats will rue the day they insisted on calling Mueller to testify.
Speaker Pelosi issued this statement :
'We are pleased that the American people will hear directly from Special Counsel Mueller. Our national security is being threatened and the American people deserve answers. The Mueller Report revealed that the Russians waged a 'sweeping and systematic' attack on our elections, and America's top intelligence and law enforcement officials have warned that the Russians will attack our elections again. Yet, sadly the President calls it a hoax, and suggests that he would welcome Russian interference again. Members of Congress must honor our oath and our patriotic duty to follow the facts, so we can protect our democracy.'
That's PH.D. worthy spin, as in Pile it High and Dry worthy.
President Trump is right in calling the investigation being a hoax. Russia attacking our electoral system isn't a hoax. The Obama-Biden efforts to prevent the Russians' attacks weren't a hoax. They were either a joke or an embarrassment. Team Obama-Biden flunked that national security test. (Remember, it was Democrats that controlled the levers of government at that point. It wasn't Republicans.
Alan Dershowitz laid it out pretty nicely on what Democrats should expect. Dershowitz said Democrats should expect Republicans to question Mueller about the basis of the FISA warrant against Carter Page. There's lots of fertile ground that Republicans can plow through. Rest assured that they'll persist in getting answers to questions that Mueller didn't investigate.
Mueller has stated repeatedly that his report is his testimony. When news broke Tuesday night, Mueller confirmed that his testimony would stay "within the 4 corners of the report." Further, DOJ guidelines prevent prosecutors from going beyond saying who they refused to prosecute and who they prosecuted. Tuesday night, Dershowitz said that the questions that Democrats want to ask about are questions that DOJ guidelines prevent Mueller from talking about. Dershowitz said that the questions that Republicans want to ask can be asked because they weren't part of the Mueller investigation.
Imagine how sensitive Mueller will be when (not if) a Republican asks him why he exclusively hired partisan Democrats to his attorney staff. Imagine the follow-up question to that initial question. Does anyone think that'll turn out well for Democrats? I don't.
Democrats were already tiptoeing past a minefield. Thanks to Tuesday night's decision, Democrats face the possibility of tiptoeing through that minefield -- while wearing snowshoes. Good luck with that.

When House Republicans save the day
In the days ahead, it's likely that more than a few newspaper articles will report that Republicans, in the House and Senate, have provided the money to improve conditions in holding facilities at the border.
First, the bill that the House passed last night isn't going anywhere. Essentially, it's dead. With all of its poison pill provisions in it, it's DOA in the Senate. The Senate bill, however, has bipartisan support. Most importantly, it doesn't have any poison pill provisions in it.
This morning on Outnumbered, Democrat spinmeister Jessica Tarlov said that companies need to "take a moral and ethical stand" against Wayfair, the company that's manufacturing beds that go into several detention facilities. That's heartless and stupid.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that it's heartless. Let's suppose that Wayfair caved. The result of the protesters' actions and the company's decision would've mean that thousands of kids would've been forced to continue sleeping on concrete. In what warped universe does that sound compassionate? That's just the start of things, though.
It's beyond stupid policywise because it creates a binary option. It either creates the option of kids sleeping on cement or kids getting released entirely. What civilized society should tolerate kids getting released into the custody of people who often aren't their parents? (Did Ms. Tarlov ever think that the people who these children would get released to are child traffickers?)
The Wayfair Walkout is filled with idiots. They've reacted emotionally without thinking things through. If you asked these activists (that's what they are) what's most important and you gave them a choice between protesting President Trump or helping children, I'm betting that the overwhelming majority of these activists would pick protesting President Trump.
These aren't rational people. They're hatemongers. I'm betting that they haven't thought about whether their protest will hurt children . I'm betting they haven't. These Democrats (the corporate HQ is in Boston, MA) hate President Trump more than they love these kids. For the organizers who put this protest together, they don't care about these children's welfare. If they did, they'd support the company's efforts to help these children.
Instead, they complain about separating children from their parents, assuming that the adults with these children are even relatives, much less parents. These are activists who want to whip up the Democrats' activist base. I don't have a problem with activists until they start putting politics ahead of children's needs. At that tipping point, I've got major problems with the hair-brained activists because, at that point, they're putting innocent children's lives at stake.
The House bill passed last night is DOA, meaning that the Senate bill will have to be the main option for funding these detention centers. Since hard-left Democrats oppose the Senate bill, House Republicans will have to supply most of the votes to pass the Senate bill. When Republicans vote overwhelmingly in favor of that bill, they'll rightfully get credit for fixing the immediate crisis at the border. Ironically, House Democrats will have the 'privilege' of being on the outside looking in.

Pelosi's hypocrisy runneth over
For months, Nancy Pelosi insisted that the crisis at the border was either "manufactured" or the byproduct of President Trump's bad policies. Truthfully, it wasn't either. The crisis wasn't just predictable. It was predicted .
Back in March of this year, then-DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen testified in front of the House Homeland Security Committee. At that time, Secretary Nielsen said "We face a crisis, a real, serious, and sustained crisis at our borders. Make no mistake: this chain of human misery is getting worse." She was met with skepticism from Bennie Thompson, the new chairman of the committee. At that March 6 hearing, Chairman Thompson said that "he wanted to use the hearing in part to give Nielsen the opportunity to start a "serious discussion," rather than echoing President Donald Trump's claims of a security crisis at the border" before adding that "real oversight over the border was long overdue."
After months of lying to the American people, Ms. Pelosi has now issued a statement that's dishonest to its core:
For the children 's health, we must ensure higher standards for medical care, nutrition and hygiene. For the children 's safety, we must limit the number of days a child can spend in an influx facility to 90 days, and hold contractors to strong influx facility standards of care. For the children 's well-being, we must compensate faith-based and non-profit organizations and local governments that are meeting the needs of children.
For the children 's comfort, we must establish a migrant processing center pilot program which is culturally, linguistically and religiously appropriate for families and children. For the children , we must ensure accountability and transparency so we can know the truth: requiring that any death of a child be reported within 24 hours, that there be no advance notice required for a Member of Congress to visit a facility and that funding can only be used for the purposes specifically described in the bill.
Remember this golden oldie?
She wasn't worried about "the children" back then. She was only worried about 800,000 government workers. The children were, at best, an afterthought. Now that it's inescapable that we've got a legitimate crisis, Pelosi is doing the best she can to limit the political damage to her majority. The truth is that she only acts when she's out of options politically. That isn't an American value. That's typical Democrat skullduggery.
There's an old saying that reads like this: "Democrats will always do the right thing -- when it's the only option left." Putting in a basket full of poison pills into the House bill helped it pass with a virtually partisan vote.
Speaker Pelosi isn't a patriot. She's a skunk in fancy clothes. She's failed the trustworthy test more times than I care to count. If you want corrupt government that only acts when there's a crisis, then vote for Democrats. If you want responsive (for the most part) that actually attempts to get ahead of a problem, then voting Republican is imperative . It's that simple.

Pelosi's immigration pickle
Anyone that thinks Speaker Pelosi has things under control is kidding themselves. Mitch McConnell's statement illustrates that dilemma:
Eight weeks ago, the administration sent Congress an urgent request for humanitarian money for the border. For eight weeks, we've seen evidence nearly every day that the conditions have been getting worse. But during all this time our House Democratic colleagues have been unable to produce a clean measure to provide this humanitarian funding with any chance of becoming law. The proposal they finally passed this week was way to the left of the mainstream. The president made it clear it would earn a veto, not a signature. Even so, in an abundance of fairness, the Senate voted on Speaker Pelosi's effort, poison-pill riders and all. It earned just 37 votes .
Fortunately, we do have a chance to make law this week on a hugely bipartisan basis. Yesterday the Senate advanced a clean, simple humanitarian funding bill by a huge margin. Thanks to Chairman Shelby and Senator Leahy, this bipartisan package sailed through the Appropriations Committee, 30 to one. And yesterday it passed the full Senate - listen to this - 84 to 8. We sent that clean bill over to the House by a vote of 84 to 8. The Shelby-Leahy legislation has unified the Appropriations Committee. It has unified the Senate. The administration would sign it into law. So all our House colleagues need to do to help the men, women, and children on the border this week is pass this unifying bipartisan bill and send it on to the president.
Anyone that thinks this doesn't paint Speaker Pelosi into a corner is kidding themselves. Her ultra-far-left partisans won't vote for the Senate bill. Her far-left Democrats likely won't vote for the Senate bill either. The House Democrats' bill passed on a mostly party-line vote. That bill got all of 37 votes in the Senate. That means at least 10 Senate Democrats voted against the House Democrats' bill.
From a negotiating standpoint, Speaker Pelosi enters the negotiations from a position of weakness. The Democrats' poison pills will certainly not be in the final funding bill for DHS. That gives Speaker Pelosi 2 options: either she asks for Republicans' help to pass the bipartisan Senate bill or she can opt to fight for the House Democrats' bill.
That last option simply isn't viable. In the end, she'd put tons of her vulnerable somewhat-moderate freshmen in an impossible position by fighting. With her gavel at stake, I'm betting that she caves and accepts the Republicans' help in passing the clean funding bill. This won't improve Speaker Pelosi's negotiating position:
RT if you agree ? Every member of Congress should be required to go to the Southern border to see the crisis for themselves.
- Kevin McCarthy (@GOPLeader) June 23, 2019
UPDATE: House Democrats caved on the emergency funding bill for DHS:
House Democrats will vote Thursday on a clean Senate-passed bill to address the border crisis, marking a blow to Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and liberal members who had demanded additional protections for migrant children.
House Democrats are still in trouble because Pelosi and her far-left ideologues had to be dragged kicking and screaming to support the Senate's bipartisan bill.
This is my I-told-you-so moment:
"There's a feeling in the room that the bipartisan Senate vote ... leaves the House will very little room to negotiate,' said a Democratic lawmaker in the Pelosi meeting.

Hawley, Rubio ridicule Democrats
Senators Josh Hawley and Marco Rubio blistered Democrats for the Democrats' inactions on immigration policy. Sen. Hawley blistered Democrats during a hearing in the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, saying "Until this wretched Congress decides to do something, I don't know why we even bother to have these hearings. I don't know why it even matters because this Congress will not act."
This is the net effect of the Resist Movement. No House Democrat dares defy that movement for fear of getting primaried. Democrats have waved the white flag of surrender to the Resist Movement. Democrats put activists and ideology first. Far too many Democrats won't put America first. That's why it's virtually impossible to fix problems. Fear of the Resist movement is stopping the passage of a bill that would fix our asylum system and close the multiple loopholes in our immigration laws.
When Republicans highlight these things during the general election campaign, the people will take it out on Democrats. Democrats promised solutions. They haven't delivered on those promises. The bills that they passed wouldn't fix problems.

Here's proof that House Democrats had to be dragged kicking and screaming to vote for the bipartisan Senate bill:
While liberal members wanted to put restrictions back in the Senate bill, members were running up against a deadline with the July 4 recess about to begin. In explaining her decision, Pelosi cited the urgent need to get funding to help children caught in the humanitarian crisis at the southern border.
Let's be clear about this. The AOC-Bernie-Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic Party is fuming over Ms. Pelosi's decision. That's why over 100 House Democrats voted against appropriating money for beds for children. For them, they wanted to totally restrict President Trump. That was more important to them than helping children.
How sad!
