Poll: Americans Want Democrats in Power
At least
that's what the AP wants you to believe. Don't believe them for even a split-second. Let's examine their claims.
REGISTERED VOTERS
Strongly Republican .......................... 17
Moderately Republican...................... 25
Definitely Independent/neither.......... 5
Moderately Democrat ........................ 32
Strongly Democrat.............................. 21
Refused/not sure................................ -
Total Republican ............................... 41
Total Democrat .................................. 53
Let's get this straight: 53 percent of the people polled are Democrats but only 51 percent of the people are leaning Democrat? And that 41 percent of the people polled identify themselves as Republicans and 41 percent of the people polled are leaning Republican?
What's more is that this was from a sample of 1000 adults, 789 who identified themselves as registered voters. They didn't even narrow it down to likely voters, which almost always favor Republicans.
Finally, this poll is useless because it doesn't go race-by-race. National polls are junk because they don't reflect anything about the candidates. This type of poll is designed to create political cover so the AP can write something about it. It's what Rush calls a 'pollitorial'. Don't consider the AP-Ipsos a scientific poll like the Rassmussen or Gallup polls.

With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.Let's separate fact from fiction here. FACT: The job approval rating for Congress is 27 percent. FICTION: By an almost 3-to-1 margin profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule. FACT: This poll shows a 12 point lead for Democrats. That's hardly a 3-to-1 margin.
A total of 51 percent said they were leaning Democrat, while 41 percent were leaning Republican. This is understandable once you look at the fine print. Here's the fine print:
